What's the best decking material for the Pacific Northwest?
Composite decking (Trex and similar) is the low-maintenance choice — it won't rot, doesn't need staining, and holds color well in the PNW rain and UV cycle. Cedar is a classic option with natural rot resistance and a warm look, but requires periodic staining. Pressure-treated lumber is the most economical and holds up well when properly finished. How long does a deck build take?
A standard ground-level deck from signed proposal to final inspection runs 3–6 weeks. An above-grade or multi-level deck with structural engineering runs 6–10 weeks. Permit timelines vary by jurisdiction — we build that into the project schedule and tell you upfront.
Are you licensed in Washington?
Yes — we are fully licensed and insured in Washington, and carry full liability and workers' compensation insurance. We're happy to share documentation before the project begins.
Can you build a deck on a hillside lot?
Yes — hillside and above-grade decks are a significant part of our Renton and Tacoma work. They require structural engineering and above-grade permitting, which we coordinate and manage in-house. The structural review and engineering coordination are included in the written proposal.
